For New Zealand accountants and bookkeepers

AI for accountants and bookkeepers in New Zealand

Every accounting practice has the same bottleneck and it isn't the work — it's waiting on clients. Chasing records before a deadline is a job that consumes junior time, generates no revenue, and has to be done anyway. Then when the records arrive, they arrive as a shoebox of PDFs.

Sound familiar?

  • Chasing the same clients for records every single period
  • Documents arriving as unsorted PDFs and phone photos
  • Capacity consumed by compliance, leaving none for advisory
  • Deadlines that bunch and turn into overtime

Why this is worth fixing

You already know the value is in advisory. The obstacle is that compliance work absorbs the capacity advisory would need. Document intake, coding, chasing and first-draft reporting are the biggest chunks of that compliance load, and all four are automatable now.

What we'd build for accountants and bookkeepers

A starting blueprint for your practice, assembled from the workflows that fit this trade. It isn't a fixed package — we shape it around how you actually work — but this is the shape it usually takes.

Client document intake

Clients are guided to send exactly the right documents, and the AI extracts and organises the data.

Proof, not a pitch deck

We didn't just write about this — we built it

Quarvois our own platform, running a real New Zealand business every day: quoting, scheduling, invoicing, bank reconciliation and a full set of accounts, with an AI manager called Torq sitting across the whole thing. It runs on our own GPU hardware in New Zealand — so the data never leaves the country, and there's no per-token bill to a US API.

That's the difference between a consultancy that talks about AI and one that ships it. Everything on this page is something we've actually had to make work in production.

AI for accountants and bookkeepers — common questions

Can it chase clients for records without me?

Yes, and it's usually the fastest payback. It knows who owes what before which deadline, escalates politely over time, stops the moment records arrive, and tells you who's genuinely stuck. It's the least popular job in the practice and it's fully automatable.

How well does it handle client documents?

It reads what comes in — invoices, receipts, statements — extracts the fields and files or codes them, flagging anything ambiguous for a human instead of guessing. We built exactly this into our own product: documents auto-file by type, and anything the system isn't sure about goes to a review queue rather than being silently assumed.

Isn't AI a threat to accounting practices?

To the data-entry part of the revenue, over time — yes, honestly. Which is the argument for owning the automation rather than waiting for it. The practices that come out ahead are the ones that let it eat the compliance grind and reinvest that capacity in advisory, where clients actually value a human.
